Console gaming has always been the pioneer in the gaming industry with it leading the way since its introduction in the 80’s and looked as if it was always going to be the industry leader. However, in recent time there has been a lot of advances in technology, especially in those of smartphones which has allowed for mobile gaming to actually take over console gaming to become a monopoly in the industry – today we assess why this has happened.
As shown by the pie chart above, the firm Newzoo in which ran the report have claimed that the mobile gaming sector has seen double digit growths in the last decade due to virtually being non-existent over 10 years ago. One of the main reasons why we have seen such a rise in mobile gaming is that is has become far more affordable to buy a smartphone in recent years due to high competition within the market and compared to buying a PC and monitor and/or console and TV. Due to everyone requiring a smartphone these days to get by everyday life, competitors like Apple and Samsung have been working tirelessly to ensure they are bringing out the best products at the best prices for us consumers.
Due to the increase in mobile gaming, other industries that are very similar have also benefitted from this trend; that of online casinos. Due to them also being able to benefit from the mobile technology advances and therefore more and more punters are finding themselves on gambling markets, especially with the Hollywood Casino promo code on offer. That is just one example of bonuses and offers that give a great incentive to players to move their gaming online.

If you think that Blu-Ray’s whomping victory over HD-DVD doesn’t have dire implications for the battle between the PS3 and the 360, you’d better think again.
Though the PS3 has been behind the 360 in the U.S. for quite some time, that is all about to change drastically in Sony’s favor.
Expect to see a huge shift in the video game industry following the power shift in the video media realm; here’s what you can expect:
1. Expect developers who are looking to release exclusive titles to begin shifting to the PS3’s format; Sony will more than make it worth their whiles, and with HD-DVD dead, the PS3 will be a standard commodity in more homes than the 360 or the Wii in this high-definition generation.
With those developers shifting to PS3 soon, Sony will hold more wildcard developers going into the next console generation; Microsoft will have to work even harder to secure strong exclusive titles. Just as cross-platform hot titles like Call of Duty 4 are pulling users to the Blu-Ray equipped appeal of the PS3, more and more users will switch because developers are going to cater to Sony’s whims.
2. Obviously, expect more movies to Blu-Ray, and therefore more PS3 sales. I’ve believe all along that if Blu-Ray pulled out a victory, then PS3 would see a huge increase in sales.
3. That follows into my next point, which is that 360’s are going to be hitting the GameStops as trade-ins; if you’re dying for a 360, wait a bit. Prices will have to drop if Microsoft wants to be competitive; on top of that, quality will have to improve in 360 consoles. Halo 3 isn’t enough to justify buying a poor quality gaming machine anymore.
4. Just like Vista, due to poor 360 quality, expect Microsoft to start directing the public’s attention at its next console; there’s very little chance they can save the 360’s image, and Blu-Ray equipped PS3’s are just too much competition.
What NOT to expect:
1. Don’t expect Blu-Ray disc prices to drop. No competitor means monopoly on the market; Unless the media giants are feeling benevolent (and when have they ever acted in such a way), you’re still going to spend a pretty penny on a Blu-Ray disc. All those discounts to encourage adoption will probably dissipate.
Finally, don’t expect the controversy over console supremacy to end; just because the PS3 is going to take the cake doesn’t mean Microsoft doesn’t have tricks left up its sleeve (or a new console in the works, which is more likely).
Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Aishwarya RaiAt long last, India is about to join the league of nations that has the privilege of playing Microsoft's Xbox 360. They're aiming for a launch before October 21, which is when the Indian festival of lights, Diwali, takes place. Why then? Because that's when many companies dish out their annual employee bonuses.
"It is estimated there are 1.6 million gamers in India who spend at least 2 hours playing everyday," explained Mohit Anand, who is a country manager at Microsoft's India entertainment and devices division.
I wonder if they'll catch on to the whole Uno craze.
The Xbox 360 console with one game and a controller will retail for 19,990 rupees, which comes to $439 US. So they'll be paying slightly more to join the Xbox 360 club. Microsoft intends to set up 1,200 retail outlets in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and the tech-hubs of Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad.
