Still Wakes the Deep is a narrative horror from the masters of interactive storytelling at The Chinese Room. Players must navigate the perilous, sinking oil rig they call home, with nothing more than their wits to protect them from whatever has entered the rig, and the roiling sea below.

You are an off-shore oil rig worker, fighting for his life through a vicious storm, perilous surroundings, and the dark, freezing North Sea waters. All lines of communication have been severed. All exits are gone. All that remains is to face the unknowable horror that’s come aboard.

The release date was revealed in an atmospheric new trailer at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase 2024, showcasing the Beira D oil rig situated off the coast of Scotland – and the first glimpses of the unknowable horror that has taken root.

ESDigital Games and Storm in a Teacup team up release 'Steel Seed'
Published by: BigJ on Wednesday, May 08, 2024

ESDigital Games (@ESDigital_Games) has announced a new publishing deal with developer Storm in a Teacup to publish their stealth action-adventure game Steel Seed for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store later this year.

ESDigital Games teams up with Storm in a Teacup to bring 'Steel Seed' to Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC

Steel Seed is a stealth action-adventure game set in a dark, sci-fi world where humanity is on the brink of extinction due to seemingly irreparable climate change. Join protagonist Zoe and her flying drone companion KOBY as they investigate the depths of a hostile underground facility in search of answers and the key to mankind's survival.

Thousands of years have passed since the human race took the planet to the brink of destruction, causing the AI machines to take all means necessary to save a number of them. Hiding deep below earth’s surface, the last survivors are kept safe, but a new threat has presented itself. Is it human? Or Machine? And what does it mean for the remnants of the Human Race and their machine guardians?

Steel Seed features

  • Immersive, dark sci-fi world - intriguing main character evolution paired with a compelling and deep narrative experience revised and edited by BAFTA-winning writer Martin Korda.

  • Stealth: the art of fighting, without fighting - Use stealth-based techniques to explore the facility’s hostile environment undetected by robotic entities and guards. Some confrontations can be avoided through efficient movement.

  • Dynamic gameplay - When exploring the environment, use Zoe’s powerful arsenal of tools and weapons to hone your own gameplay style. Discover new gadgets on your journey and unlock new skills for KOBY.

  • Intense combat - Test your reflexes and multitasking abilities in Steel Seed’s challenging fast-paced combat action. Dodge enemy attacks and deliver punishing blows to clear the path. Call on KOBY’s special gadgets and actions to cover you in combat and neutralise threats.

  • Unique levels, unique challenges - Every level inside the facility is unique and offers many challenges for Zoe and KOBY to overcome.

  • Mobility - Use Zoe’s parkour skills to traverse the underground facility and gain a tactical advantage. From the artificial, robot-controlled depths to the open natural environment, danger lurks around every corner.

  • A powerful guide - Take control of KOBY by entering Flight Mode. Scan the area to discover secret areas, detect enemy positions, and find new upgrades for Zoe. Or maybe… use him as bait.

  • KOBY, a drone for life - The master key of Steel Seed and Zoe’s guide on her lonely and dangerous journey inside the underground facility. By working together, they create a formidable duo and bring something new to every fight.

Steel Seed launches on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in late 2024.

But in the end, science and mystery are anything but anathema to each other. On one stormy night, a person was brought into this world. A child of both darkness and light, full of mysteries and full of scientific curiosity, just starting to build a myth of their own.

Explore the eerie abandoned industrial buildings of Nikola Tesla’s most ambitious facility in Wardenclyffe, which was meant to become an important city where the future is today, and every societal process is improved upon by the principles of free wireless electrical energy.
