Introduction
This is an instructional video on how to connect a Roland KD-8 kick trigger pad to the Ion Drum Rocker for use in Rock Band, using a Kickbox.
The Kickbox is necessary for this setup because the KD-8 does not send out the correct signal for the Ion controller to recognize as a kick drum hit for the game (it needs an ON/OFF signal). So the Kickbox translates the piezo signal from the KD-8 into an ON/OFF signal that the Ion controller will recognize.
The same identical setup DOES work with the Rock Band 1 and 2 stock drum sets as well, you just have to use the 1/8"-1/8" cable that I showed in the video instead of 1/8"-1/4".
My pedal is a Yamaha Flying Dragon DFP-8210 double pedal, I just didn't have the slave pedal connected while filming this video.
